Dog Socialization & Neutrality Training in San Jacinto

If you think "socialization" means letting your dog "sort it out" at a San Jacinto dog park with twenty strangers, you are setting your dog up for disaster. True socialization isn't about being best friends with every dog at Hiram Deville Park; it’s about neutrality.

These social struggles are symptoms of a dog that doesn't yet know how to coexist without conflict. Because we are professionals, we do not guess or give out generic socializing tips. We must evaluate your dog in person to determine their baseline before we can teach them to be stable and neutral.

The Art of Controlled Exposure

At Good Doggos, I don't believe in "throwing them in the deep end." For 8 years, I’ve specialized in reclaiming the narrative on socialization. My balanced approach focuses on building confidence through structured, calm exposure. I use high-value rewards to reward the choice to look at you instead of the distraction. However, I also believe in the power of a clear boundary. I use calibrated leash work to provide an "interrupt" if your dog decides to fixate or escalate.

I often use my helper dog, Chico, for these sessions. Chico is my "happy-go-lucky" dog with a non-threatening, submissive personality. He’s the "icebreaker" who helps overwhelmed dogs realize they don't have to interact with everything to be safe. By watching Chico’s relaxed energy, a reactive dog learns that they can also choose to be neutral.

We take our sessions to the real-world "hot zones" of San Jacinto—busy sidewalks near Valley-Wide Recreation, local shopping centers, and trails where the San Jacinto Mountains provide a high-distraction backdrop. We teach your dog that they don't need to interact with the world to exist in it.

Whether it's the peak summer heat or the Santa Ana winds, I show you how to be the advocate your dog needs. By the time we’re finished, your dog will be a stable, neutral companion that you can take anywhere in Riverside County with total peace of mind.
